Shoppers now search in sentences. Your filters still expect a grape name.

11% of wine-hesitant consumers say they can predict how a wine will taste. For beer, spirits and cocktails it is almost half.

How it works

A shelf with no adviser still gets an answer.

  1. Send your assortment

A file or an API connection.

  2. Place the QR code

On the shelf and in the wine area.

  3. Shoppers get this store's picks

Each store runs on its own assortment, prices and stock.

How Wineater thinks

Every request is read on five axes and matched against every wine you stock.

  • FoodThe dish, the cooking, the sauce.
  • TasteBody, acidity, sweetness, style.
  • OriginCountry, region, appellation.
  • OccasionA dinner, a gift, a party.
  • How it's madeNatural, organic, aged.

Then four bottles are chosen for the kind of buyer who asked: a safe pick for a novice, a discovery for a geek.

  • Only wines from your own catalog
  • A moderate boost for the products you promote
  • Answers in the shop's language

  • Promote what you choose

Private label or the week's offer gets a moderate boost in ranking.

  • See what shoppers ask for

Shoppers' requests are logged, so you can see what they look for at the shelf.

  • Start with one store

A pilot in a single store is possible.

I have a party with a bunch of wine geeks and want to surprise them. But something local please...
A real request. Typed by a shopper.

What shoppers typed, most common first

  1. Grape or style
  2. Origin, age or alcohol
  3. Budget or value
  4. Producer
  5. Food or occasion

Common questions

Does the store need Wi-Fi for the QR code?

No. The shopper scans the QR code with their own phone and uses their own mobile data.

How does stock stay up to date?

If stock sync is on for your account, we read your product feed once a day and hide wines marked out of stock. The sync refuses to run if the feed is empty, has shrunk by half, or would hide more than half of the catalog.

Can we pilot in one store first?

Yes. A pilot in a single store is possible. Talk to us about the store and the shelf.

What about shopper privacy (GDPR)?

Shoppers do not create an account to use Wineater. For what data is processed, see the answers on shopper data and our privacy policy.

Why is there no public price for offline retail?

The price depends on the number of stores and the size of the catalog. Talk to sales and we will send you a quote.
